If love is shelter, I’m going to walk in the rain. –Anonymous
She stepped outside and felt the cool air refresh her skin; it danced its way across her face like a feather blown away by the sweetest breeze. The clouds were grey and heavy in the skies as she made her way toward him, the asphalt coarse and rough on the softness of her bare feet. She didn't care. She didn't care if her long dress started to swirl higher, following the rhythm of the elements menacingly rising in a low rumble. The light fabric was already being swept away, revealing her naked legs. Yet she couldn't take her eyes off him. He stood here, his face a mix of tenderness and apprehension. What he feared, she didn't know; all she knew was that they were finally standing in front of each other.
She was here. A heady sight he could barely start to process. A sight his eyes had feared he would never see again. After a beat, his hands dared to touch her shoulders, the exposed pearl of her pale skin like velvet beneath his fingertips. He felt a shiver vibrate under his caress, as the first drops started to fall from above. Gathering her close to him – and close to his heart - he let the rain wash over them, taking away the pain, the lies and the hurt that had come to stand between them. The storm unleashing the rain above left their faces wet with tears – and hope renewed under a black sky.
And here they stood; the rain enveloping them like a transparent sheet whispering promises in their ears.
